30-60 Minutes Away

Pack a picnic and spend the day at the Sooke Pot Holes   Or, if you spent the morning or afternoon kayaking with Rush Adventures and you're hungry, you'll want to eat at the Stickleback Restaurant

Take a drive into Victoria (30 min)- spend the day or it's close enough to drive in for dinner and a show.   There are an abundance of shops in the downtown core - don't forget to stop in at Rogers Chocolates or Murchies Coffee!  Also in the downtown core is  The Bug Zoo, not far away is Beacon Hill Park, with childrens petting zoo.

Looking for some old fashioned british culture?, stop in at The Empress for Afternoon Tea.  Just across the street is the scenic harbour where many tour companies offer Whale Watching.  Feeling hungry?, some of our favorite restaurants are red fish blue fish  they serve great fish tacos or fish and chips on the waterfront in a converted cargo container Rebar Modern Food or Camilles Restaurant both at Bastion Square, the  Tapas Bar or check out the oldest Chinatown - Victoria BC - there are many good chinese food restaurants, take your pick.

Goldstream Park is a great park to go to at any time of year - but at the end of September through to November the salmon go up river to spawn, this is quite the sight if you haven't seen it before, there is a very good information centre just a short walk from the parking area.  It's worth taking a picnic, there are also firepits where you can have a simple campfire.

Blue Grouse Vineyards & Winery

Kinsol Trestle

Butchart Gardens shouldn't be missed if you love plants and flowers, if the kids are with you, they might be interested in Butterfly World too.

Markus Restaurant is one of our absolute favorite restaurants, its a great place to go for that special dinner - dine in a converted house, close to Sooke Basin and savour some local, in season food.  Reservations are advised.
